Why polls are sometimes correct 1

Michigan State beat Oregon 31-28. Great early game against two good teams. This was still to be expected. The number 5 team should be the number 7 team. This was how it is supposed to work. Great game. This is how college football should always be.

Oklahoma beat Tennessee 31-24. This is to be expected of the number 19 team beating the number 23 team. Even if the higher ranking team was on the road.

Last LSU beat Mississippi State 21-19. The number 14 team opened up on the road and beat their SEC rival. This is how it is supposed to be.

But why not just play the schedule and alleviate the polls. Do the fans not watch otherwise? Those stadiums have a couple thousand people who have shown that poll numbers don’t drive attendance.
