Real Thursday night football kicked off Week 6 of the college football season. Not that NFL game between the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans. A real struggle between the Huskies and the Trojans.
Washington is having a decent season so far. That will be buoyed by a win over number 17 USC. They will be able to make respectable run in the PAC 12 North. I am not trying to say they will win. But this is the kind of win you can build off of. With a score of Washington 17 – USC 12; this was solid effort.
Trojans are a decent team as well. I am not bashing them for the loss. They just have not earned a high ranking. And there will be a lot more turmoil at that team. Going through head coaches so frequently is starting to hurt the team a lot. The talent that is there is not being utilized properly.
I would also like to take this time to show that college is much better showcased on Thursday. NFL is not well suited. Personally it hurts me for fantasy. Professionally the problems it causes for coaches not preparing on a full week. The injuries that can’t be recovered from. I know that the NFL is trying to grow its brand. But they are doing it the wrong way; in my opinion. And it is to the detriment of its de-facto minor leagues. I think Thursday night football is a bad decision. I hope that the NFL Player’s Association renegotiates it out of the schedule when they go through collective bargaining in 2020 (UGH!). But I don’t think that either party wants a work stoppage/strike.
This post is supposed to be about college football. And this post is about what is right & best to determine a true champion. What is right, in my opinion, is relying on win and losses to put the correct team into the championship. Play on the field. Not a committee. The polls are a guess. Polls have guessed wrong appallingly 13 times so far this season. Only one time this week to start. That was just the first game of this week. More to come.
